Understanding Intersectionality: The Heart of Inclusive Feminism
<p>I’ve spent decades immersed in the world of feminism. My journey has been colored by the experiences of a typical middle-class, white cis woman born in the USA in the 60s. My life has been shaped by the need for feminism, even though I may not always explicitly mention it. Today, I want to share with you the profound significance of intersectionality within the feminist movement, shedding light on why modern feminism needs to embrace it wholeheartedly.</p>
<p>In the early years of my life, I witnessed the emergence of feminism as a force to be reckoned with. The Women’s Liberation Movement of the 70s was a powerful beacon of hope, promising to challenge the norms and inequalities that had held women back for centuries. It was a time when I, like so many others, believed that gender equality would be achieved in one fell swoop without recognizing the intricate layers that needed to be unraveled.</p>
