Unemployment and Being Trilingual.
<p>As of 5th of May 2020 , 9:34 am , there are 28,431 job vacancies in Malaysia posted on Indeed.com, 32,431 on LinkedIn.com , and 10,063 on Jobstreet.com.</p>
<p>Out of these numbers , the ability to speak Mandarin aside from English and Malay is required (or an added bonus) at approximately 14 to a whopping 30 percent of these job postings. Roughly 4,085 jobs on Indeed, 4,613 on LinkedIn and 3,014 on Jobstreet.</p>
<p>In Malaysia, Mandarin to a level of advanced fluency is taught at national vernacular Chinese schools. There is approximately 1300 vernacular Chinese schools at present , out of around 10,000 schools (primary, secondary, boarding and vocational colleges) in Malaysia. Very rarely are these subjects taught at non-vernacular national schools even though it is a much sought after skill in the job market.</p>
