Being Queer, aka Being Lonely

I’ve always been good at being alone. Or so I tell myself, at least. Being lonely on the other hand, you never get used to it. That feeling of sitting cross-legged in a bottomless pit where people cannot reach you, but only look over the edge and find your shade. And there’s no ladder. If you want to get out, you’ll have to claw yourself out with fingernails dug deep into its darkish walls.

As an only child, I feel there’s a naturally born loneliness within you. I’ve certainly felt it. So many times, that I’m now convinced that it has become a part of my identity. Definitely, with the path I chose to go on as a grown-up, loneliness would prove to be a lasting companion.
