Happy belated International Women’s Day. I’m a week late, but it’s fine; conversations around topics of equality, including gender equality, don’t need to be confined to one day anyway.
Throughout my tech adventure so far, I’ve met a number of people who were hostile towards the idea of women in tech — some overtly, some covertly, and many more unintentionally. Hostility towards women in tech is so abundant that just about any woman in the field could recount a handful of their own experiences about it.
What makes me even sadder is when a woman doesn’t even recognize the hostility towards her and believes that’s just how the tech industry is. I don’t know who needs to hear this, but you can and should feel completely respected as a woman in tech.
