Do not perceive me! Some thoughts on the phenomenon

<p><strong>Scrolling on the explore page of instagram this morning</strong>&nbsp;I came across a post of a young person posing, captioned something like &lsquo;trying not to be perceived&rsquo;. It&rsquo;s a sentiment that has been around on the internet for a little while, variations of &lsquo;do not perceive me!&rsquo; in memes, tweets and captions. It got me thinking. Do you not want to be perceived? Or do you not like the way people have been perceiving you and therefore no longer want to be perceived, because they would perceive you incorrectly anyway, or with judgement? Perhaps it&rsquo;s actually self judgement. If others can&rsquo;t see it, I don&rsquo;t have to look at it myself either.
