A few days ago, a video started circulating on social media, depicting an Orthodox Jew emerging from a sewer grate in Brooklyn. The TikTok account that originally shared the video is a Jewish influencer.
The video went viral as news reports surfaced showing NYPD getting into a violent brawl with Israeli foreign exchange students at a synagogue near the scene where the original video was taken.
Apparently, a few dozen Orthodox Jews visiting from Israel had decided to expand the synagogue by secretly digging a tunnel from the basement into an adjacent building. Neighbors overheard strange sounds during the middle of the night, and reported the activity to police.
