Are We Born Prejudiced?
<p>Itstarted with a whispered comment on the playground. “<em>My mom says I shouldn’t play with her because she’s different,</em>” Amy said, turning her back on Lily during a game of hopscotch. At only six years old, Amy was already learning to exclude others based on arbitrary differences. Meanwhile, Lily stood stunned, unsure of why her friend was now rejecting her.</p>
<p>Unfortunately, scenes like this play out every day in schoolyards around the globe. From a young age, children begin to absorb attitudes and beliefs from the world around them—at times with traumatic consequences.</p>
