Time to Think Outside the Box

<p>Ifyou popped into the Northern beaches of Sydney over the weekend you might be forgiven for thinking you were in the wrong city. It&rsquo;s supposed to be the coldest time of year but people are already in their bikinis and swimming in the ocean like as they would in the middle of summer.</p> <p>The Guardian article I read says that James Hansen who testified to Congress on global heating back in the eighties is now in his eighties. He&rsquo;s a NASA climate scientist. He says we are damned fools, because we had to taste it to believe it. Unless you&rsquo;ve been living under a rock, you&rsquo;ve heard the stats and seen what has been happening from South Korea to Greece to Antarctica. Hansen believes that global heating is accelerating, even when natural variations like El Nino are taken into account. Scientist believe that we are quite possibly living in a climate that no human has lived through before. I wrote my Master&rsquo;s thesis on the El Nino but I didn&rsquo;t really imagine this. But I did spend more than a decade trying to convince elected Councillors about these issues and felt I was beating my head against a brick wall.
