Opening Pandora’s Box: My story about Genetic Cancer Screening and the PALB-2 mutation

Last spring, I went to my yearly OBGYN appointment. It’s that ominous looming female requirement that is forgettable when it ends up being nothing, and an annoyance when something is found that requires follow up that ends up being nothing as well, and of course all levels of horrifying when something real is actually found. I went through the questions and honestly just got caught up in thinking about long lost family members and all the cancer that’s been in the family. Remembering my mom’s side, then my dad’s side, grandparents that I know about, just circumstances that I’ve made mental notes about throughout the years.
