This year’s COP, also known as Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC, was held from 30 November to 12 December, in Dubai. The aim of these conferences is for governments to agree on policies to restrain global temperature rises and adjust to the effects of climate change. Although, this year’s event was highly criticized for several reasons. For the first time, nations at the UN have taken explicit aim at the use of fossil fuels, meanwhile the host country, the United Arab Emirates, is a major fossil fuel producer.
