There are not 24 hours in the day.
Sleep makes up 8 hours. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, showering, commuting, etc. take another 2 hours. That leaves us with 14 usable hours for our dreams and goals.
We must use these 14 hours as efficiently as possible. However, this does not involve working for 14 hours straight, taking no breaks, and having 0 fun. Quite the opposite.
It’s about prioritizing, taking advantage of existing mechanisms, some clever hacking of our brains, and simplicity.
Here is how to get the most out of your day without sucking out all the fun in your life.
What makes your day incomplete?
All tasks are not equal.
We’ve all heard about the 80/20 rule, where you can get 80% of the outcome by doing just 20% of the most important things, but do we know how to find that 20%?
Often, we spend hours working on things that don’t matter as much.
When I first entered college, I wanted to thoroughly study the chapters from one end to the other and build a great understanding of things. Albeit a noble pursuit, it was stupid in the context of exams.
This is because the most crucial 20% of things are spread across chapters. Thus, if you study sequentially, you’re wasting time on unimportant things.
Another reason why it was stupid was because it was always last-minute studying with me. At that point, the goal should be efficiency and not knowledge.
