Being married often means watching films that you both agree on.

<p>When my&nbsp;<a href="https://medium.com/@jeanswidler/a-slowly-unfolding-catastrophe-c2ff784167d7" rel="noopener">mother died of ALS</a>&nbsp;(following her mother and grandfather and preceding her sister in passing from the disease) I learned of the genetic cause of this in our family. Along with the name of a gene that seemed quite odd and unfinished (a jumble of letters and numbers) I discovered its pleiotropic effect with a shared risk of a disease I had not heard of&nbsp;<a href="https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/frontotemporal-dementia/symptoms-causes/syc-20354737" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">Frontal Temporal Dementia</a>&nbsp;or FTD. In brief examination of this I discovered horror &mdash; individuals who were no longer the same person they were most of their lives and in later stages often catatonic and a burden to their families.
