The Playstation Portal is a tough sell at $199.

Sony held a press gathering at their headquarters yesterday to mark the announcement of their new handheld streaming device, The Playstation Portal. At the gathering they allowed press to film themselves using the device, and announced its (fairly competitive) price point of $199.

The PSPortal touts what is functionally a full dual sense controller, 8 inch 1080p screen running at 60 fps, and some “enhanced streaming technology” that Sony is claiming improves performance when compared to streaming your PS5 to other handheld devices consumers already own, like smartphones.

The device also lacks support for bluetooth, a cost cutting measure that will severely limit the connectivity of the device to headphones that are within Sony’s new “Playstation Link” line of products.
