My Journey Through Playstation Plus Premium’s First Year

On June 13, 2022, Sony launched a tiered Subscription Game Service for The Playstation 4 and 5 called “Playstation Plus”. The “Extra” tier allows access to a library of hundreds of titles, with new arrivals every month, while the Premium tier allows access to a small library of retro titles, which, depending on your penchant for older games is a strong value proposition. There is also an “Essential” tier that grants access to cloud services, online play, and three monthly games that are free so long as you claim them. A year of Playstation Plus Premium costs $120 USD. For a little under the cost of 2 full priced games for nearly unlimited titles, I decided to take the plunge.

In this article, I’m going to talk about every title I’ve played on Playstation Plus this past year, what tier that game is available on, and analyze whether or not the service is worth its yearly price tag. For simplicity’s sake, I am going to break this article into four sections, completed or nearly completed games, games played for five hours or less, analytics, and my final thoughts on whether the service is worth the asking price.
