Celebrating: Joana Melo Rocha, Designer at Studio WABA, in Porto.

How would you introduce yourself in five words?
I can fill a room.

What do you prefer to do when it comes to design?
I like to execute, but I really really enjoy finding the solution. To study, see, collect, think, draw, test ideas quickly, start again, study more, etc.

What is the best compliment your work has ever received?
That it is honest. That authorship doesn’t overshadow the goal.

What designer do you most admire and why?
I can’t answer this. Not even a name comes to mind as “the” designer. I do admire many designers, but mostly I admire a vast variety of work from many of us. Projects like London 2012 Olympic Games, or branding and packaging from Anagrama studio, or the new identity for London Symphony Orchestra or Japanese graphic design in general.
