Back in Scotland

I forgot about this blog. I had a vague memory that I started writing when we first moved to Amsterdam but I couldn’t remember on which platform. I also completely forgot about that interview in Dutch that I mentioned in the last post I made. I guess after that post life in the Netherlands fell into a kind of rhythm. Although we had some amazing experiences (travelling, music concerts and great food) the longing in our hearts for Scotland never went away, if anything it became stronger. We hoped and dreamed to be back here, and although it took a bit longer than we first imagined, here we are.

Is it everything we hoped it would be? Funny enough my current feelings are very similar to what I described in the first post I made on here. To quote myself: “Now a month or three later I find myself in that uncomfortable place where excitement is diminishing and unfamiliarity is everywhere”. Of course not completely unfamiliar but undeniably I feel a little unsettled. I miss what became familiar and known in the Netherlands, although never really comfortable. Ultimately I guess, only time will tell but I do believe (hope?) we are home now.

Why Scotland?
