Strange Things I Noticed in Scotland
<p>In Edinburgh, there are two levels of streets. One on top of the other. When the old town became crowded they just built more buildings on top of the old ones. Some are 14 storeys high. The station is on the bottom level but not underground.</p>

<p>Not only in Edinburgh but also in Glasgow and Oban, nobody presses the button to let the traffic signal know there are pedestrians waiting to cross. People cross on the “don’t walk” signal. For a while, I couldn’t figure out why the walk sign wouldn’t light up when the traffic light turned red. Turns out there are right and left-hand arrows. I saw quite a few people escape death by bus. Including me…</p>
