Strutting Towards Nowhere: A Modern Tragedy

The man — an imitation of many others — struts around town like a peacock, flaunting his so-called sophistication, but in reality, he’s nothing more than a glorified monkey in a garish polyester suit with a corporate noose-like tie around his neck. He’s like a prisoner being led to his execution, stuck in a cramped and suffocating metal box chugging along on tracks towards the commercial role that kills his dreams. Travelling along whilst choking on the putrid fumes (a sign of bowel cancer or IBS?) of his fellow captives as he reads the gloomy morning news.

He’s a slave to his own biologically coded needs, chasing an elusive destination in a universe that’s hurtling towards its own inevitable demise. It’s almost comical how this fool thinks he’s in control of his own fate when every scientific discovery points to the contrary. He’s just a puppet, a mere marionette dancing ridiculously to the tune of his own innate programming. His existence is a joke, a cruel and absurd cosmic joke. The only reason it’s not totally funny is that he’s aware of his own existence and he suffers a lot for it, yet he thinks about all the wrong things to in any way get away from the mindless drudgery of his grim fate:
