What I’ve Been Up To Lately

I recently quit Twitter because I didn’t like the fact that a load of total arseholes — Donald Trump, Andrew Tate, and others of that ilk — had been allowed back on the platform by new owner-operator Elon Musk. Things seem to be getting worse over there as I write. I doubt I’ll be back on the site in the near future. I can’t say I’m a fan of Musk. I can’t understand why anyone else would be either. He has made some other questionable decisions, like sacking or otherwise pushing out the bulk of the workforce and changing the site’s verification system, which will presumably have some impact on Twitter’s functionality and longevity. I didn’t particularly want to leave Twitter; it’s a unique website, and if you set it up properly (i.e. set the homepage to ‘Latest Tweets’ and block any account you see with promoted tweets) then it’s a wonderfully bizarre and interesting place, and there really isn’t anything like it out there. I haven’t deactivated my account, and I may well come back to Twitter when/if Musk’s dictatorship ends or his activities are curbed by other stakeholders.
