I wrote this piece in October of 2020, my senior year of high school, in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. I was inspired to write this because I was (and still am) in awe of my mothers leadership to her team at PlumpJack and commitment to the PlumpJack Foundation, Holy Family Day Home and the Justice William Newsom Fund with the San Francisco Foundation — despite being in the middle of the pandemic. While the transition to working virtually was difficult, my mothers’ guidance, emotional intelligence, teamwork, budgeting, time management and professionalism helped keep the PlumpJack community whole. Almost three years later I stumbled upon this paper and decided to publish it. My mother is my role model, my biggest supporter, and my superhero.
