A Former Police Officer Rejected By The Court

Two other police officers assisted Chauvin in restraining Floyd. A fourth officer was Tou Thao, who prevented bystanders from intervening to help Floyd. Chauvin was convicted of second-degree murder. The others were charged and convicted of violating Floyd’s civil rights.

The ex-officer Tou Thao argued that prosecutors failed to prove his actions were willful. He made an appeal which the Supreme Court rejected.

The case of George Floyd made news around the world. Racism was claimed as a reason for the treatment he received and for his death.
