My Near-Death Experience in The War of Gaza

It was in the war of 2014 on Gaza. In the last few nights before our departure from our village to the neighboring city, we couldn’t sleep. Usually, the sounds of rockets hitting near the border of Gaza and our other neighboring village from the right are not enough to make us wake up in the night. They were powerful enough to shake the entire house, but not as alerting as to make us leave the house. However, in the last night I had in my village, the pounding was not normal.

The house shook, not once or twice, but all through the night. The vibrations didn’t stop for one minute. As a family, we all cuddled in the middle room that had a ceiling of rocks, instead of the others which had a ceiling of shallow metal. We were united by the safety of our connection and prayers. We literally had nothing in our hands.

In war, you’re not supposed to know if you’re going to survive or not. It’s all a game of chance. Just once make the wrong decision, such as taking the car in the day to buy groceries, and your end will come to you immediately with a drone rocket. War is not a joke and even if the danger seems away from you, you should never risk 1% of your safety.

Website
