In April 2004, Russell pled guilty to two separate charges of burglary of a dwelling and received two concurrent fifteen-year sentences in Mississippi State Prison. In February 2014, Mr. Russell was released from prison in Mississippi after serving eight years, seven months, and three days. By October 2015, Mr. Russell, having been found in possession of a weapon while on parole from his prior burglary charge, was charged with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
