A User’s Guide to ADHD With Anxiety
<p>Many people, including some doctors I know, view ADHD and anxiety as incompatible. They mischaracterize all of those who have ADHD as happy-go-lucky daydreamers who intrude without a second thought into the personal space and conversations of others. How could someone like that be anxious?</p>
<p>To be sure, there are many people with ADHD who are risk-takers or thrill-seekers, needing a sense of danger to feel joyous and fully alive. They tend to be less likely to get anxious. Many with ADHD can feel calm and focused in the midst of a crisis — that greater level of stimulation to kick their brain into a higher, more functional gear.</p>
