Learning from Ada Lovelace

This piece is adapted from a talk I gave October 10th, 2016 celebrating Ada Lovelace Day in Champaign, IL at the University of Illinois Research Park Women in Tech event.

Before I worked in tech, I was a plastics engineer. My favorite part of being an engineer was helping people solve problems. I think Ada and I have that in common. In fact, solving problems is still my favorite part of my job today. I originally wanted this piece to “solve” a problem, but I realized that was kind of unrealistic. Instead, I want to talk about how we see problems — this way I can help solve infinite problems by living vicariously through you.
