I have seen several works by the artist David ??erný without knowing who he is. But this one had an element of surprise that was mind blowing.
My wife and I were strolling around the side streets of Prague. We were sort of looking for a coffee shop, but mainly just taking in the city at a comfortable pace. We glanced into a doorway that opened onto a small courtyard surrounded by apartments. And this was just there! No sign, no plaque, just four gigantic pistols pointing at each other.
The Czech Republic, now Czechia, endured decades of occupation. The Soviets pulled out in 1991, and the atmosphere in Prague feels like they are still celebrating. With beer and pig’s knuckles, marinated in irony.
