Not the Boss? Try These Tips to Foster a Sense of Belonging at Work

Here are five things you can do as a coworker to help your coworker feel that they belong:

1. Make an effort to get to know them. Introduce yourself, ask about their interests, and find common ground. Doing so will create a sense of connection and foster a sense of belonging.

2. Invite them to join in on conversations and activities. Include them in lunchtime conversations and after-work activities.

3. Acknowledge their contributions. Show your appreciation for their work and efforts, no matter how small.

4. Give them feedback. Offer constructive criticism and feedback to help them improve and become more successful.
