When an apology is an act of aggression

On Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, President Barack Obama signed a Congressional Decree that “apologized” for the wrongs the United States Government committed against Indigenous Americans.

Yet, the President held no official ceremony, invited no tribal leaders to witness or receive the apology, and gave no public reading. Instead, the Congressional Resolution of Apology slipped into a larger legislative package called the 2010 Defense Package Appropriations Act.
