The Notion of Two Sides and the Act of Indoctrination

This is an analysis of two concepts of indoctrination exhibited below that deal variously with the notion of teaching, indoctrination, and censorship…

To teach is to tell, to teach is to say that this is that and that such is so; to teach is to indoctrinate, and no matter the subject. Educating people and allowing them to choose their viewpoints is an entirely different thing and this is because education does not start with a presumptive end. Education is not so much about giving people answers but about giving people processes from whence information can be gleaned and deduced upon; the literal process of conjecture and refutation. Only by way of free and unfettered access to information, no matter how repugnant, can we as a society leverage the preponderance of understanding —and this is to paraphrase The Freedom to Read Statement of 1953 (FTR).
