Caste has been at the centre of major intellectual debates in the subcontinent of India, surrounding thinkers and experts across the field of history, anthropology, theology, political studies, economics, sociology and literature with utter ambiguity. Certainly, the Caste question has been vigorously discussed, which is in itself a rather inconvenient task, considering the prevalent stereotypes as well as the hegemonic strength of upper castes in higher studies. Since independence, the educated class as well as the entirety of the political class has evolved a consensus against the millennia old tradition– a feat in itself. But this is perhaps the first step to the sun, as the pilaster and the plinth of the Brahmanical hierarchy is yet to be smashed.
