In a world brimming with diversity and constant change, businesses are challenged to adapt and stay relevant. As the heartbeat of every organization, a brand serves as its identity, reflecting its values, mission, and personality. Brand illustrations breathe life and emotion into the brand’s narrative.
As an illustrator and having a set style it becomes often challenging to develop a new style when you are working for different brands. I usually start with the first stage of any project by asking this question, why do you need illustrations for your brand?
Before we get started, let’s understand the concept of brand illustrations and why they hold significance?
A brand illustration system is a collection of images with a cohesive mood and style that clarifies a brand’s promise, often with a nod to human experience (humor, hope, irony, etc.)
Unless there is a specific strategy stating otherwise, illustration should be a complementary part of the overall framework of a brand. When a brand’s message and visual identity maintain a structured and serious tone, introducing a loose and playful illustration system without a clear underlying purpose can potentially lead to confusion.
