How Much Are Writing Coach Rates — and Should You Invest?

Necessary disclosure: I’m a writing coach, so a lot of this article will talk about the benefits of writing coaches. No surprises there.

But I will also be honest. I think most writers don’t need coaches. All writing advice boils down to write often, and write well. Keep at it long enough and you’ll get there.

Not getting there as fast as you’d like? Odd circumstances holding you back? Writing often, writing well, but not finishing your project? Then maybe an investment makes sense.

Most people who benefit from writing coaches want to improve. More crucially, those people benefit from having an external person tell them what they need to do to improve. I explain to prospective clients what I can help them achieve. I tell them my price. And then I let them decide if it’s worthwhile or not.

My approach is just one example of how to set rates. Maybe you’re a beginner looking to develop your writing skills. Or perhaps you’re an experienced writer seeking feedback and accountability. No matter where you are on that spectrum, you should understand the costs and benefits of working with a writing coach. That way you can make an informed decision.

Website
