<p>When Marion joined the FSA, their photographers had already travelled to various regions of the USA. Roy Stryker, the manager of the photographic project, focused on assignments that could add different perspectives. Marion was eager to jump into a job that was a break from her previous work.</p>
<p>She had studied dance and child psychology, then went into teaching. Photography called her, though. In the 1930s, she had worked for Fortune, Associated Press, and the Philadelphia Evening Bulletin.</p>
