Is it possible to know who we are without knowledge of the past?

<p>Knowing who we are is a vital part of the human experience, however it isn&rsquo;t always as easy as it seems, because it can be correlated with many different things. Who we are refers to our identity, beliefs, values, physical and mental heath, relationships, cultures, communities, and families. Having said that, culture cannot be encountered without any historical beliefs and traditions.</p> <p>Knowledge of the past helps us identify how certain cultures relate to our identities, simply because of how they began and how they have evolved through out the years. That is why, knowledge of the past allows us to know who we are. Otherwise, without it, we may never have something in us that truly distinguishes us and reminds us of our heritage, for that is what makes us who we are.
