Turkey — Where the Twain Meet

Turkey always had a special fascination for me ever since I was a kid. A lot of it had to do with pages and illustrations from history books, I think. And then when I grew up and started to read Orhan Pamuk novels, I was getting increasingly drawn to this country. His novel, Istanbul, portrayed the lives and the city so well, I knew I had to visit it someday. Thanks to the economical fares of Turkish Airlines, my dream finally came true in 2013.

Istanbul was all I had dreamed of and more. Steeped in history, an amalgam of Eastern and Western cultures, perfect harmony among the people from different religious beliefs and values, the land of whirling dervishes, Fez hats, Turkish delight, Hagia Sophia, and the Blue Mosque, one couldn’t help but fall in love with this city!
