Ukraine’s intelligence chief spoke recently and stated that the war in Ukraine would not be a long war. He estimated six months to a year until a Ukrainian victory. Many critics of Ukraine and the West’s support of Ukrainians often say that this war is unwinnable by Ukraine. They believe that Russia is some behemoth, a giant among nations whose pit of resources is bottomless. They discuss how Russia has four times as many troops as Ukraine. Still, their argument usually stops there because the population size seems to be Russia’s only advantage.

Throughout the war, one by one, The imagined Russian advantages have disappeared. Russia is turning to recruitment in foreign countries like Qazaqstan, Cuba, North Korea, and the African countries that have fallen under the Russian chaos mantle. Russians are no longer willing to die for Putin’s glory. Latest estimates put 420,000 Russian soldiers in Ukraine — far too few to hold the defensive lines, provide logistics, and maintain control over ungovernable territories.

Visit Now
