An Epic 4-Day Northern Ko’olau Summit Trail Trip for the Ages

This is the tale of my epic 4-day journey across the Northern Ko’olau Summit Trail (KST). Before I begin, a few disclaimers. This is probably the most rugged and confusing section of the KST to navigate, as well as the least scenic, and it truly tests one’s perseverance. Due to the harsh and unforgiving conditions, this was easily the most physically demanding hike of my life, and I do not say that lightly. And the pictures here truly do not do it justice. The fact of the matter is, when conditions are rocky and dangerous, or windy and rainy, or steep and treacherous, there is no time to be taking pictures. In fact, much of this trip I was hiking in the dark, which is clearly not recommended, yet became quite necessary in some cases. Additionally, there was the pressing issue of preserving the batteries on my electronic devices.
