All the More Reason to Write

I stumbled upon this motivational quote in Ray Bradbury’s Zen in the Art of Writing, a collection of essays spanning thirty years of his writing career. He melded together the story of his life and the events that inspired him to write. Needless to say, he was one of the most acclaimed writers of novels, short stories, and screenplays in recent history.

Why do I write? For a start, I write because my words breathe life into my existence. This reason alone is enough to write.

But it goes beyond that. Despite having been heavily bombed (more than two million tons of ordnance) by the U.S. during the Vietnam Conflict era, this critical piece of the Lao American experience barely merits a sentence in history books.
