Has the Podcast ship sailed…?

<p>Four months in to my time at CEMVO Scotland I am yet to make any great headway on one of my tasks &mdash; starting a podcast series. It&rsquo;s not that I don&rsquo;t like the idea, or even that I think it won&rsquo;t work, but there do seem to be a number of barriers in the way, and a nagging sense of not being 100% sure why we are even doing it. It must have seemed like a great thing to include in the funding bid, but now that we have the cash no-one seems exactly clear on what the podcast is, or what it&rsquo;s for, or how it will work. Over to me!</p> <p>There are clear barriers to entry for a new podcast, most notably that it&rsquo;s a ridiculously crowded marketplace. If Richard Osman was starting a murder mystery podcast, he&rsquo;d be alright. CEMVO do not quite have his clout, though you will notice I am deliberately avoiding any &ldquo;Pointless&rdquo; puns. Beyond issues of visibility there&rsquo;s the nuts and bolts of the thing. How do we record it? Do we hire Abbey Road? Will Paul McCartney sing our jingle?
