The Hidden Treasure of the Paris Opera

Last week, I gave my first-ever tour of the Opéra Garnier, one of the most famous monuments in Paris. The group loved the tour, and so did I. They particularly liked it when I told them about this amazing sculpture called La Pythie, created by the artist Marcello for the 1870 Salon. The Salon was a major artistic event held in Paris from the late 17th century to 1880, organized by the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture. The aim was to exhibit the works of artists approved by the official Academy of Arts. It was a kind of official art exhibition and a possible chance of recognition for artists. Well, this Pyhtia is located right under the beautiful staircase of the opera house. And as the group I had last week liked it, I thought you’d probably like to know more about it too. So here it goes!
