How neutrally exciting can a gallery be? Reviewing Gallery 78 in Hyderabad.

The third and last art gallery I visited in Hyderabad was Gallery 78. When I was dropped off at the place, I again thought I was dropped off in the wrong location. I found myself standing in the middle of a neighbourhood, and my mind couldn’t register for a moment that I was in front of a gallery that is in a house-like setting.

I soon spotted a wooden block with “House 78” hanging on the pillars next to the main gate. I tried to push the gate but it wouldn’t budge. I fumbled for a lever but I couldn’t find any. My Uber driver who was waiting at the junction a little away reversed his auto to check if I was okay. I thus decided to call the gallery, and only then someone came down and let me in.

The gallery was located on the second floor of the building. Upon entrance, my attention was on the architecture. It was an industrial-style space with tall windows, high ceilings, big cement-looking pillars, open space, and a minimalistic design. There was a person in the gallery, but he mostly just stood/sat (I cannot remember) on the side without making any conversation. He also left the space after a while and it was just me alone.
