Chandrakanta (book review, mostly)by Devki Nandan Khatri

It changed my perspective on Indian fantasy books. I mean, I for some reason believed that they might not be as good as western books, but by the gods it was brilliant. And it was written in 1880. Like in the same decade as the original Sherlock Holmes. And it’s still relevant and enjoyable and FUN.

BTW, I tried to watch the Old TV series and new ones too. For all the good things I heard about the show, it was disappointing. I understand the limitations of that era, the awfully low budgets, the bad visual effects, the boundation of the episodic format. But it was NOT loyal to source material at all.
