A momo-tivational analysis

Outside most Delhi metro stations, you are assured to find at least one of these two things: A Dumpling (momo) stand and a bookstall. I find this to be a pretty good example of formal and informal economy supporting each other.

Now, a typical analyst will take away from this that metro users enjoy eating momos and reading books. The first statement is easy to bite but the second part, is little hard to digest (okay, let’s ration the food puns). What I am trying to say is that, in the age of 10 second instagram reels and ADHD being diagnosed more commonly, I am not sure the mere presence of supply and demand justifies the enjoyment of books or put differently, this (joy of reading) is the only reason for bookstalls.
