Why “I’m Not A Racist” by Joyner Lucas is one of the worst, most deplorable songs in hip hop history

In November 2017, rapper Joyner Lucas released a song called “I’m Not A Racist”. Many people were praising it as a meeting of the minds or a walk in my shoes (see things from the other side’s perspective) regarding Donald Trump supporters and from what I could see just an average African American youth. Reflecting on it in 2023 as we approach the 2024 United States presidential election and taking a look at the global landscape on this 50th anniversary of hip hop, this is undoubtedly one of the most vapidly shortsighted and utterly gross records in rap.
