Japanese way of ‘life in a complete harmony and peacefulness’

Anshin (安心) means tranquility or harmony. For example when you had something scared happened to you, and your loved one hugs you and reassures that everything is fine, you feel the stress to melt away. Your body relaxes and you feel tranquility and a sense of “I am safe and everything will be alright”. This is the state of Anshin in Japanese.

Ritsumei (立命) is more complex word. Actually, this word is not used commonly in a normal day to day conversation. The word is combined with two kanji, 立 and 命. Ritsu (立) means to stand up. Mei (命) means life. Therefore, it can be understood that ritsumei carries a meaning to “let your life stand up”. This might sound strange in English, but in Japan the expression of “stand up” is commonly used to indicate that you are setting up a strong will to do something or to be something. Thus, ritsumei can be understood to be when one becomes committed to burn his or her soul and live one’s life consciously to fulfill their destiny.

Visit Now
