I yearn for peace

It’s 11 pm. Scores of nocturnal crickets have woken up with the rising moon and have taken the responsibility to fill the air with a constant whirr. The occasional rustling of the leaves harmonizes with the hum perfectly to create a supernatural aura of calmness and timelessness.

It has been 20 minutes since I got up from the post-shower nap and my mind is as blank as my answer sheets. I have no lingering thoughts from my day — nothing I feel like I’m missing out on. I have been able to sit in my usual spot and allow my senses to surrender to the different stimuli. No more scurrying through the day to get through it.

I reckon this is what peace must feel like — to feel calm in your heart.

It may be a momentary emotion but at this instant, I am okay with everything that is. I am okay with everything that has happened before, everything that is happening now and everything that is to come. Accepting what is, as it is, allows me to feel calm in my heart.
No aches or mistakes.
Just silence… and acceptance.
