To Go Where the Media can’t

As our societies careen on the edge of ecological collapse, I feel compelled to document stories of those on the frontlines. Of people fighting for the liberation of their lands from corporate greed, of communities challenging our dominant ‘world-as-resources’ ideology, of alternative ways of being.

Last week I read a book that showed me what journalist Robert Fisk meant when he said that “reporters should be neutral and unbiased on the side of those who suffer”. Written by one of my role models, George Monbiot, and set in one of my favourite places, Indonesia, it spoke to what I wish to become. It’s not often one comes across stories so silenced yet so important, that tug at the heartstrings and the mind, and call to be heard.
