reporting on FEMALE PARTICIPATION in founding teams
<p>We don’t know how this compares to dealflow data because we simply do not have it. Data from external sources seems to validate that this number is generalizable,<em> if not worse</em>. According to a <a href="https://sifted.eu/articles/web3-gender-gap-brnd" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">2023 Sifted article</a>, only 13% of Web3 founding teams have at least one female founder, and only <em>7%</em> of Web3 founders are women. Recent <a href="https://www.bcg.com/press/13june2023-women-are-under-represented-in-the-european-startup-ecosystem" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">research by Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and SISTA</a> reveals that, in 2022, women-founded startups in key European markets accounted for only <em>10%</em> of startups created. And according to <a href="https://www.novobrief.com/how-to-boost-womens-participation-in-the-spanish-startup-ecosystem-through-steam-investment/9785/" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">a 2022 Novobrief article</a>, female entrepreneurs only constitute about <em>8% </em>of the women in the active labor force in the European Union. We could go on and on.</p>
