Decarbonizing the Last Mile

The ‘last mile’, the final hand-off portion of any supply chain stage, has become ever more important in accomplishing an organization’s strategic, operational, and financial objectives. It is often the lynchpin that determines whether the customers and vendors upstream and downstream can work in sync effectively and efficiently (money-saving) and effectively (resource utilization).

The last mile is defined as the portion of a supply chain that is located within close proximity to the end user. The last mile is not only the final portion of the transportation process, but also encompasses the warehousing, inventory management, and distribution that are needed to meet customers’ immediate needs.
