China Protests US Treatment of Students at Entry Points

There are currently around 290,000 Chinese students studying in the U.S., making up approximately one-third of all foreign students in the country. China has the highest number of students studying abroad with over 1.3 million. The Chinese Embassy has made formal representations to the U.S. government about the treatment of students at Dulles airport in Washington, D.C. However, it is unclear if similar cases have occurred at other entry points as well. Chinese state media have reported multiple cases where Chinese students were subjected to lengthy interrogations, had their visas revoked, and were repatriated. The U.S. Embassy in Beijing has not yet commented on the issue. The Chinese Embassy statement criticized these actions for causing harm to the studies and psychological well-being of international students from China.

Website
